Gunfire broke out late Friday night in a residential neighborhood in Lawrence , leaving a man dead, officials said. The Lawrence Police Department received multiple 911 calls just before midnight reporting gunshots and a man injured near 216 Walnut St., according to Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker. Police found the man injured with a gunshot wound and rushed him to Lawrence General Hospital, where he died, Tucker said. The district attorney's office did not release the man's name and said officials were in the process of contacting his family.
